THIS WEEK'S BLOG POST

How the Xcode 27 MCP can lead to higher token costs when navigating the Simulator

Your agent doesn't need a screenshot to navigate the Simulator, it needs to know what's on the screen. I realized this early when working on the RocketSim CLI and improving it a lot, but this week I found out many other tools don't care as much. I wonder whether the Xcode 27 MCP would be efficient, and I share you the result in this week's article.

WHAT I'M WORKING ON

AI Fundamentals Course: The Final Pieces

Slowly but surely, I’m getting closer to inviting the first users to my brand-new AI fundamentals course. With 60+ lessons packed with lessons I've learned, it’ll be a great resource for anyone who wants to get better at agentic development.

Sometimes, I don’t realize I’m in quite a bubble. Things that are so logical to me aren’t obvious for those who just get started. I decided to ask on X: “What are your biggest challenges and questions using AI?” and I’ve had a few great questions raised.

Another realization: I’ve helped a fellow indie developer optimize his token usage by a lot after sharing a simple prompt with him. It turned out that he was using an MCP for Simulator navigation that was costing him a lot of tokens (that’s why I wrote this week’s article). It also made me decide to create this page to help you find out where your agent tokens go.

Meanwhile, I’ve also reached 1,000 analyzed traces with RocketTrace, a big milestone, I realized how valuable developer friends are, and I launched a brand new homepage for SwiftLee. Yes, it’s been a busy week, ha!
